Dune Saga - Frank Hebert
The story that started it all for me - I read the entire 6 books and loved every minute of it. Considered one to the greatest science fiction novels in history. It follows a young man, Paul Atreides, as his family takes over the planet Arrakis which is the only source of the most important and valuable substance in the universe - the spice melange.
Foundation Series - Isaac Asimov
It's Issac Asimov, Need I say more? A great story I recommend reading based on the in the in-story timeline order vs the order of book publishing. The story is about a gifted mathematician named Hari Seldon who developed mathematical formulas that would be able to predict future events in a hope to minimize an inevitable destruction of society.
The Frontiers Saga - Part 1 - Ryk Brown
This was probably one of the fastest reads I ever had. The Frontiers Saga is a wonderfully exciting story of a young man thrust into command of Earth's only hope to save itself from an evil empire that will do anything to conquer it. This series is planned to have 5 parts of 15 books each I believe that I will only read each part once all 15 books are complete as I was unable to put the books down - I read all 15 books in about a month (while I was also writing my own book) I'm not sure I could start Part 2 and have to wait as each book is completed.
The Frontiers Saga - Part 2 - Ryk Brown
Part two of the Frontier Saga did not disappoint. It was a fantastic follow-up to part one that I thoroughly enjoyed. My biggest issue was overestimationg how long it would take me to read each book - I started when book 13 came out and was done with thm all before bok 14 came out. I loved them so much I was literallly reading 1 boke ever 3-4 days. For part three I will have to wait until book 14 is released.
Catwalk: Messiah - Nick Kelly
Just to be transparent Nick happens to be a friend of mine but my recommendation of this book has nothing to do with that. It's because it happens to be a damn good book! A dark cyberpunk novel of a cybernetically enhanced private investigator named Leon "Catwalk" Caliber. I'm looking forward to reading his follow on books in the series this winter as I have some time between projects.
Silver Shipe Series - S.H. Jucha
As I write this I am on book 13, and I am just loving it. I originally heard about this series from Steve Gibson. He fell in love with it and put it up there with the Frontier Saga. While I agree it's up there I still believe the Frontier Saga has a bit better character development and plot line. With that said, this is a great read with fantastic story telling that I just love.
